WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT APEX?

While there are many options for your training, at Apex, you won’t get lost in the crowd!
We believe in balance—not just between volume and intensity, but also between life and running. We understand that you have a busy life outside of running and can't spend all day recovering like the pros. We also know that most runners don’t thrive with a "one size fits all" training plan. That’s why we use VDOT, an online coaching platform that structures workouts with personalized paces. Each athlete’s VDOT calendar includes cross-training suggestions, along with videos to improve strength, mobility, and core stability.

In addition - our low monthly fee of $50 for our group workouts offers an unbeatable value. 

WHERE DO YOU TRAIN?

We typically meet in the Cedar Park area, with occasional field trips to various locations. Our primary spots include Cedar Park Middle School track, Milburn Park, and Summer Moon Cedar Park.

Each week, we send out an email detailing the meeting locations for each group, followed by a second email later in the week with information on the long run route and meeting spot.

Other options (including virtual coaching) are available if you can't make the in-person training runs, but running with the group provides some benefits that are hard to beat!

WHAT ARE MY TRAINING OPTIONS?

  • Higher Mileage Group:

    • Meeting Time: 5:00 AM Tuesday/Thursday

    • Must be comfortable running 1 hour at a minimum 10-minute/mile pace

    • Tuesday includes warm up miles, drills, 3-4 miles of structured speed work, and cool-down miles. Total mileage: 7-9 miles.

    • Thursday varies weekly, including easy miles with strides, progressive miles, and tempo runs. Total mileage: 7-10 miles.

  • Lower Mileage Group:

    • Meeting Time: 5:30 AM Monday/Wednesday 

    • Any pace is welcome; includes beginners and fast runners

    • Monday includes warm up miles, drills, 2 miles of structured speed work, and cool-down miles. Total mileage: 4-6 miles

    • Wednesday varies weekly, including easy miles with strides, progressive miles, and tempo runs. Total mileage: 4-6 miles

  • Saturday Combined Long Run:

    • Start times depend on mileage. We aim for everyone to finish together, so shorter mileage groups start later. Both groups run between 6-20 miles, depending on the needs of each athlete.

The best way to get started is to simply reach out on our contact page or email Coach Gina for more information! Membership with Apex requires no long-term commitment. Simply pay $50 in dues at the beginning of each month as long as you are running with us and using our online coaching platform.
